Mike is an experienced Pension Trustee Chair and Non-Executive Director, bringing extensive executive leadership experience across pensions and investment management. His roles benefit from a strong history of delivering long-term value for pension schemes, their members and sponsors through governance, stakeholder engagement and investment strategy.
He currently chairs the pension schemes of Nuffield Health and the Institute of Cancer Research, where he balances governance with an appreciation of the schemes’ charitable missions. Both schemes are nearing full funding following the successful implementation of investment, governance, and recovery strategies, and are now exploring long-term run-on approaches.
Mike also Chaired the 4 sectionalised DB/DC pension schemes of a UK corporate subsidiary of a north American quoted company and is second trustee for a major UK multi-employer industry pension scheme. Alongside his pension trustee roles Mike is also a member of the Advisory Board at The Good Economy, and a Senior Advisor at both Avida International and Labaton Keller Sucharow.
Mike brings wide-ranging knowledge of pension scheme governance, risk management, legal and regulatory compliance, administration and member communication, as well as all investment asset classes, particularly real assets and private markets.
A familiar voice in the industry, Mike is a regular speaker at conferences and events. His insights are grounded in firsthand experience, notably as Chief Executive of the Pensions Infrastructure Platform and LGPS Central, one of the UK’s largest Local Government Pension Scheme pooling organisations.
