. , Independent Investment Adviser
Eric Lambert is a leading Independent Investment Adviser (IIA) in the UK public and private pension sectors. He has extensive investment consultancy experience with asset owner funds in the UK, Europe and internationally and is a past Head of Customer Consultancy within State Street and Head of Research & Consultancy at the WM Company. Many of his ‘hard-line’ - and inherently cynical - investment views have been driven by decades of evidence of funds’ actual results.
His IIA clients are mainly Local Authorities, ranging in size from quite small (c£250Mn) to the very large (c£20Bn). They cover a broad spectrum of investment strategies, investment philosophies and implementations.
When asked ‘what defines a successful fund?’ the only common features are to fully embrace long-term investing (and this may mean accepting positive inertia as an attribute) and that investment, including changes where appropriate, are made with conviction and commitment. Marginal plays are exactly that.
